Music In Action presents: LIBERATION 75 PROM
Following the sell-out Broadway Gala in 2019, join the Liberation Festival and celebrate the 75th anniversary of Jersey’s liberation following the occupation in WW2. Remember and then party with a wonderfully varied programme featuring international stars and homegrown Jersey talent.
The night will take you from reflection through popular songs of WW2 sung by VCP and JCP schools, the plight of immigrants, to enjoying foot tapping classics from the musicals by Cole Porter, George Gershwin and other favourites. We welcome back Jersey favourite, violinist Harriet Mackenzie to perform alongside Beaulieu Convent School in the Jersey premiere of “The Girl from Aleppo” by Cecilia McDowall – an exploration of the extraordinary story of a teenager with cerebral palsy forced by war to
flee her home in Syria and embark on an arduous journey to Europe.
Conducted by Eamonn Dougan.
