Salary: £36,050 per annum pro-rata (based on 37.5 hours/week)

About Us: 

The Jersey Opera House is a dynamic theatre dedicated to delivering exceptional performances and supporting both emerging and established talent. We are seeking an enthusiastic Box Office and Customer Engagement Officer to join our team.

Job Summary: 

The Box Office and Customer Engagement Officer is responsible for managing all ticketing operations and delivering exceptional customer service, both in-person and online. This role works closely with the marketing team to support promotional efforts and ensure a seamless, positive experience for all patrons, whether they are booking online, by phone, or in person. Knowledge of social media is essential, as this position will assist with customer engagement and brand awareness initiatives.

Please Note:
This is a flexible role based on a 30-hour week. Working hours will vary and may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays in accordance with the theatre’s performance and operational schedule. Flexibility is essential, and rotas will be communicated in advance to reflect production and event needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Ticketing and Sales Management

  • Process ticket sales, exchanges, and refunds efficiently, ensuring accuracy and adherence to theatre policies.
  • Handle customer enquiries related to ticketing and seating, providing knowledgeable, friendly, and proactive service to enhance the customer experience.
  • Manage and update the ticketing system, ensuring accurate records of all sales, and producing sales reports as needed.

Customer Service and Engagement

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patrons, handling enquiries and addressing any issues with professionalism and empathy.
  • Work to resolve any ticketing or seating problems promptly, prioritising customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Gather and relay customer feedback to the marketing and management teams to help improve service offerings and audience satisfaction.

Collaboration with Marketing

  • Partner with the marketing team on promotions, group bookings, and special offers, ensuring consistency across all customer interactions.
  • Stay informed about ongoing campaigns, promotions, and events to answer customer questions and support marketing initiatives effectively.
  • Share insights and observations from customer interactions that may help refine marketing and social media strategies.

Social Media Awareness

  • Possess a working knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Tik Tok and Instagram to support online engagement efforts.
  • Monitor the theatre’s social media accounts periodically, flagging customer enquiries or relevant interactions for follow-up.
  • Assist the marketing manager with basic content creation or feedback when needed, aligning with the theatre’s branding and messaging.

Reporting and Record-Keeping

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of daily transactions, customer interactions, and feedback, reporting trends to the marketing manager.
  • Prepare daily cash deposits and reconcile ticket sales, following theatre accounting procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a box office, sales, or customer service role preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
  • Proficient in ticketing software and basic computer skills with familiarity in social media platforms essential.
  • Organised, with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
