Special Requirements
Jersey Opera House is fully accessible for all people with mobility requirements.
Lift
A lift services all levels of the auditorium and the Upper Bar. There is also a backstage lift, which gives access to the Studio.
Access Wheelchair Users – Main Auditorium
There are allocated seats in the auditorium for wheelchair users in the Stalls and Dress Circle. Advanced booking is advised. Companions are entitled to a complimentary ticket when attending with a wheelchair user.
Access – Studio
Patrons are asked to inform box office of any mobility requirements in advance regarding access to the studio so that Front of House staff are briefed. To access the studio, customers either have to climb four small flights of stairs or, for those with mobility requirements, there is a backstage lift. The backstage lift is only accessible from the outside of the building and is located near to the Stage Door, approximately 200 yards from the front entrance of the theatre.
Wheelchair Users accessing the Studio
Wheelchair users are asked to notify Box Office in advance so that the Duty manager is aware of any assistance requirements to access the backstage lift to go up to the studio. This is only accessed outside the building. Wheelchair users must be accompanied by a companion. Companions are entitled to a complimentary ticket.
Non-wheelchair Users with access requirements for the Studio
Any patron who is not in a chair but has access requirements (ie walking sticks, crutches or cannot climb small flights of stairs) must inform Box Office in advance. If the customer needs to use the lift then the Duty Manager will escort them backstage via the outside route. They also should have a companion with them. Companions are entitled to a complimentary ticket.
Hearing Loop
Jersey Opera House theatregoers who require hearing assistance benefit from an updated sound system in the theatre’s auditorium, thanks to a generous donation from Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands. The theatre boasts eight additional microphones in the auditorium and on the stage to improve the all-round sound quality for customers with hearing requirements. The number of infra-red radiators has increased from two to six units to boost the sound coverage, ensuring any hard of hearing patrons have a larger choice of seats and there are 20 portable infra-red loop devices, guaranteeing more people have access to the new system during any given performance.
The technology installed is:
2 x AKG C568 Shotgun Condenser microphones
4 x Audio Technica PR045 drop microphones
2 x AKG 214 Large Diaphragm Condenser microphones
4 x Sennheiser SZI 1015 Infra-red Radiators
10 x Portable Infra-red Loop devices
